MLK had the day off from school today as Berkeley celebrated "Indigenous People's Day" so, wanting to take a motorcycle ride somewhere in today's glorious weather I decided to toodle up to Benicia to watch various Raptors run for their middle school teams.
The first Raptor race was the the 7/8 boys. Nikhil was nowhere to be seen (?) but Lincoln ably represented the club with an excellent race. I'm not sure what his time was but he looked fast the entire way and beat a BUNCH of runners including a huge pack of Albany runners. Lincoln's progress since he entered cross country has been something to see. He's now a very serious runner. Want proof? Look at the picture below!
Lincoln finishes fast at the Benicia league meet.
There were two Raptors in the day's feature race (7/8 girls), the usual battling twosome of Mady and Annabel. Annabel has emerged victorious so far this season but her string ended today. Mady finished second overall and this time had a decent lead on Annabel who finished third. These two are indeed going to battle all the way through the championship meet in November. It's always fun to watch!
Mady, looking strong, brings it in near the end of the race.
Annabel at the same spot a few seconds later. Note that BOTH of her cool new XC racing shoes have come untied. Yes, she did double knot them!
